Review
I write this on Mick Thomas' 65th birthday: our birth dates are just 28 days apart. So we share some things in common based on our year of birth and the location - southern Victoria, Australia.
He has made a great contribution to Australian popular culture and music. However, I have not made an effort to see any of his bands or performances due to my general preference for blues, roots and country music of styles I didn't perceive he performed or recorded.
Most people of my generation would remember Mick as leader of Weddings Parties Anything (WPA). WPA and post-WPA, Mick has an extensive body of recorded work; written works; and tour ephemera including a bottle opener.
I'm glad I got around to reading this book as I appreciate the time and effort it would have taken to compile. However, he should have got a decent editorial team in as there are some terrible mis-spellings, problems with grammar, and poor layout of art text that would have benefitted from the use of more white space (even if the background is black); and resizing and moving pictures around in the text to complement the text instead of dominating it.
